Why Is My Car Knocking Over Bumps?

14 May 20264 min read

A knock or clunk over speed bumps is one of the most common issues we see — and one of the cheapest to fix if caught early.

The usual suspects, in order of likelihood: drop links (small connecting rods that wear quickly on our pothole-rich roads), anti-roll bar bushes, top mounts, and ball joints. Each makes a slightly different noise, which is why we always road test before quoting.

Left alone, a £40 drop link can wear the parts around it and turn into a £300 job. Worse, worn ball joints are an MOT failure and a genuine safety risk.

Our approach: road test, ramp inspection, then photos of the worn part next to a new one so you can see exactly why it needs changing. Suspension work starts from £79 with our 3-month warranty.
